Alternative services at Kennemerwaard Library
When the library closed on March 16th, big steps were taken to provide alternative services for our patrons.
Normally, all our activities take place in one of our branches, schools or community centres. We were able to host a lot of activities and services online, as you can see in our video. For our youngest patrons, Biebstart hosted online reading sessions for 0-4 year olds and their parents. Older children could choose from nearly 60 online videos from dBos (the library at school) and Videolab with reading tips and (fun) lessons, or join CoderDojo online. A special project was set up for a school, we provided books and lessons for students and parents. Patrons who come to the library for language lessons, joined an online club to keep in touch with each other and us. For those struggling with digital skills, videoconferencing and telephone calls were hosted to help them get online. And there was more: an online reading club for grown-ups, calls were made to our elderly patrons for whom we provide Bibliotheek Aan Huis (library at home), people could call our Poetry line.
